Romulan Warbird, Star Trek
1/3200
AMT/Plaz
Build:
This an older release and required a good deal of sanding and filling poorly fitting joints. Milliput was used extensively during all phases of construction, as overall fit was less than precise.
Painting and Weathering:
Primer: Humbrol Acrylic Hobby Spray AD6001.
Vallejo Pale Green 71.095 was applied.
Vallejo Oiled Earth Wash 76.521 was applied. The wash was allowed to settle into all the various panel lines and depressions in the body of the bird. Before it was completely dry a damp brush was used to clean up any wash that had bloomed onto the surrounding surfaces.
Tamiya Weathering Master Oil Stain 87088 was then applied to deepen and better define panel lines and recessed surface details. The excess was drawn off with a brush dampened with Tamiya Lacquer Thinner.
Bragdonent Soot Black FF-64 was dusted onto areas around the exhaust vents and lightly here and there around surface crevasses and depressions on the model. It was then fixed in place using Vallejo pigment fixer.
Vallejo Mecha Green 69.026 was then airbrushed to highlight all the raised surfaces and highlight surface details. An 005 brush was used as well to paint the finer surface details.
Lighting:
Bright efficient LEDs were used throughout to light the myriad of portals and larger viewing ports. The lights in the nacelles were painted green to better portray engine exhaust.
