This is the Sd.Kfz. 7 mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8t, medium towing vehicle 8 ton, Lindbeg 1:40 scale model. During World War II the German Luftwaffe primarily used the Sd.kfz 7 to tow the 88mm air defense gun.
While the box presented an original grey base paint scheme with camouflage for the European theater, the Sd.kfz 7 show here was painted and washed to show the rough weathered look of a Desert Afrika Korps Luftwaffe version. The DAK originally received vehicles from Europe in panzer grey, which they then covered with a slurry of local dirt and sand to serve as camouflage.
This model was painted with a Vallejo shade of desert tan and then ununiformly covered with washes of black wash and hand mixed tan-grey paint to expose those areas where the vehicle would have been the most weathered and thus reveal the original grey under the desert sand and dirt wash. The black canvass top cover was based on an original photograph where a black canvass top was half erected to cover the middle seats in the vehicle.
