Metallic Details MD14407
The kit was built in an unusual configuration with the nose in full supersonic mode and the tail skid wheel retracted. I know this is not very accurate, but to me enhances the sleek look of the aircraft. Kit fit was fair. Assembly of the thin wings presented the greatest challenge. Panel lines are very fine. Metallic Details provides resin engine nacelle intakes and exhaust parts. Intake fit was difficult. Both MD resin parts provide thinner walls and fine panel lines. Metallic Details also provides photo etch for various components. The reversing buckets are far superior to the kit parts. Various antennas are also provided, but I kept the molded kit features in places as they were very fine and secure.
The kit was painted with Alcald gloss white primer. This provided a nice smooth gloss base to apply kit provide decals. Decals are provided for both the British Airways Landor and “Wavy Flag” liveries. Note that there are multiple versions of the Wavy Flag livery… who knew? I chose the Landor livery, one of my favorite airline liveries. Over 100 decals were applied, mostly on the underside of the aircraft. Weathering was done with oil paints, which did a nice job of highlighting the fine panel lines. A 50/50 mix of Alcald Gloss and Semi Gloss clear coat finished the build.
